Evgenia Medvedeva celebrates her birthday on the 19th of November. As of 2017, she turned 18 years of age. Her mother, Zhanna Devyatova, was also once a figure skater from Russia. She, however, quit the sport at the age of 14. Her father, Arman Babasyan, is an Armenian businessman. In order to improve her figure, both her parents encouraged her to practice figure skating. During the competitions, Evgenia uses the surname Medvedeva which is her maternal grandmother's maiden name.

Regarding her education, in 2017, Evgenia enrolled in the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism.

Evgenia started her journey to become a figure skater at a very young age of three. She made her senior national debut and finished eight at the 2012 Russian Championships and also placed sixth on the junior level. Following that, in the next years' Championships, she made an improvement and finished fourth.

Evgenia made her international debut in the 2013-14 season. She competed on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series. She won gold first in Riga, Latvia, and then in Gdańsk, Poland. Evgenia again won the gold medal at the 2014 JGP season which was held in Courchevel, France. She won with a 21 point margin against Japan's silver medalist Rin Nitaya. Eventually following her various success, she was qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final which was held in Barcelona, Spain and won gold in both the segments.

Her great career has led her to win many titles. She is famous as the two-time Olympic silver medalist, the two-time world champion, the two-time European champion, the two-time Grand Prix Final champion and as the two-time Russian national champion. Not only these, but she had also won the 2015 World Junior Championships, the 2014 Junior Grand Prix Final, and the 2015 Russian Junior Championships.
