Brock Turner: The case
Brock was seen sexually assaulting a woman, who seemed to be intoxicated and unconscious behind a dumpster, by two Swedish graduate students on Standford campus ground. He was facing charges of rape and sexual assault and was set to serve 14 years in prison but his sentence was reduced to six months.
According to reports, Brock's father Dan wrote a letter stating how "20 minutes of action" should not spoil the long life that was ahead of him. He faced major backlash for trying to normalize rape culture. The judge who reduced his sentence from 14 years to 6 months also faced a backlash from people, especially people on twitter. People blamed the judge for being biased because of Brock's "white privilege" and how he was an athlete and belonged to a university like Stanford.
There were many who were enraged at the fact that Turner's family even set up a funding page. They said that it was so that they could pay the fees created due to the case. The page was later deleted.
Brock spent a total of three months in jail and now will be legally required to identify as a sex offender all his life. Technically, he was never charged with or convicted of rape.
