Individual life 

Growing up, Cowley was a West Ham United supporter. During his spells as chief of Concord Rangers and Braintree Town, Cowley joined his administration job with showing Physical Education at FitzWimarc School in Rayleigh, Essex.

Cowley has a sibling, Nicky, who played close by him at Romford and has been his associate supervisor at Concord Rangers, Braintree Town, Lincoln City, and Huddersfield Town.

Cowley moved on from the University of Greenwich in 2002, acquiring a four-year certification in Physical Education.
