Jason Kander was born in Overland Park, Kansas on May 4, 1981. He was brought up in Jewish Family. Jason is the son of a juvenile probation officer, Janet and the police officer, Steve Kander. He is the grand nephew of John Kander, a musical composer. He is also a distant relative of the author of the Settlement Cookbook Lizzie Black Kander. Jason is not the only child in the family. Jason spent his childhood in Kansas with his younger brother Jeff.

Jason attended the Bishop Miege High School in 1999. He studied political science at the American University and graduated with a degree in law at Georgetown University in 2005. Professionally, Jason Kander is an attorney, combat veterans, and politician of America. He is the 39 Secretary of State of Missouri.
From 2006 to 2007, Jason served as an intelligence officer in Afghanistan for the US Army. Jason became the lead instructor at the MANGOCS( Missouri Army National Guard's Officer Candidate School) at Fort Leonard Wood. In 2008, Jason won the election to the Missouri House of Representatives. Later in 2012, Jason was elected as the Secretary of Missouri State. He ran for the seat of US Senate in 2016 from Missouri but couldn't win. Jason founded Let America Vote. LAV is an organization that works to end voter suppression across the United States. The members of the organization are actor Bradley Whitford, activist Martin Luther King III, Jon Favreau, Josh Earnest, Dan Pfeiffer. Jon, Josh, and Dan are the former officials of White House. Jason also works as the chairman of DNC Commission along with Terri Sewell as a vice- chairwomen.
Kander became a CNN contributor in 2017. He hosted Majority 54 With Jason Kander. The show was a podcast by Crooked Media. In the show, Jason and his guests discussed issues with the people who voted for Trump. After a year, Kander published his first book Outside the Wire: 10 Lessons I've Learned in Everyday Courage. The book reflected his career in the military. He announced that he was running for the 2019 Kansas City Mayoral Election but on the 2nd of October, Jason dropped out because of depression.
