Right from his childhood, Allen loved football. Moreover, he was a huge Fresno State fan. He went to all of their games and football camps. He did not receive any scholarship during high school due to his lack of the physical requirements and capabilities for being a quarterback. Later, Allen attended Reedley College.
According to the offensive coordinator, Ernie Rodriguez, Allen was underrated despite having very good throws. Later, Allen started playing two games in his first year at Wyoming. In the beginning, he played it safe by taking up only four passes but later, due to his broken collarbone injury, he could qualify only for a medical redshirt.
In 2016, he returned after his recovery and played as a Wyoming’s starter. He currently plays as a quarterback for the American football team, Buffalo Bills.
