Martin Joseph Walsh (conceived April 10, 1967) is an Irish-American legislator from Boston, Massachusetts. A Democrat, he has filled in as the 54th civic chairman of Boston since 2014.

He was already an individual from the Massachusetts House of Representatives, serving in that office from 1997 until 2014 and speaking to the Thirteenth Suffolk region.

On January 7, 2021, it was accounted for that duly elected president Joe Biden chose Walsh to fill in as the United States Secretary of Labor in the forthcoming Biden organization. 

Early life 

Walsh was born in Dorchester, Boston, to John Walsh, an Irish American initially from Callowfeenish, a townland close to Carna, County Galway, and Mary (née O'Malley), from Rosmuc. The couple emigrated to the United States during the 1950s and brought forth Marty in 1967.
